Appearance
- The Brazilian Terrier resembles the Fox Terrier in appearance.
- These small dogs have a short haired coat that is typically tri-colored.
- The colors of their coat include:

- This small dog breed is between 14 and 16 inches tall (at the withers).
- They normally weigh between 14 and 20 pounds.

Temperament
- Brazilian Terriers are often compared to Jack Russell Terriers with regards to their personality.
- This small dog is very alert, intelligent, frisky and prone to barking. Thus, they make an excellent watch dog.

Exercise
- These small dogs have the tendency to get restless if not properly exercised.
- It is recommended to walk these dogs on a daily basis (long distances is recommended).
- Even jogging with this breed is acceptable. The more tired they are, the less mischief they will get into.

History
- This breed is very popular in Brazil.
- They are one of two dogs that are native to the country (the other breed is the Fila Brasileiro).
- Seemingly, during the 19th century the Jack Russell Terrier was brought to Brazil from Europe and bred with the Miniature Pinscher and possibly the large Chihuahua. Thus, developing the Brazilian Terrier.
- In Brazil, these small dogs are still used for pack hunting and single hunting.
- The Brazilian Terrier has only been registered since 1973.
