Appearance
- This breed is short and muscular.
- Their ears stand straight up (erect) and have been said to appear similar to that of a bat's ears.
- These small dogs stand roughly 12 inches in height.
- They typically weigh between 20 and 30 pounds.
- These dogs have a smooth short haired coat.

- White
- Fawn

- Different variations of brindle with white

Temperament
- These small dogs are wonderful companions and simply love being around people.
- They are playful, bullish, alert and somewhat passive.
- They are also rather intelligent.
- Though they are typically passive, these dogs tend to play a little rough sometimes and should be monitored when doing so with young children.
- This breed typically gets along with other dogs and animals.
Living Conditions
- This small bulldog breed is perfect for apartment life.
- They do not require a lot of outdoor activity. In essence, they have difficulties breathing in extreme temperatures.
Exercise
- These dogs should be walked on a daily basis. Keep in mind however, that these walks should be of short distance and not in extreme temperatures.
- Indoor playtime is also good exercise for these small dogs.
- Be sure to provide this dog with dog toys and bones to chew.

- French Bulldog puppies are normally born into a litter of about 2 to 5 pups.

- These small dogs can be somewhat stubborn and may tend to ignore you.

- It is also important to establish that you are the leader.
- For the best results, begin training these small dogs when they are pups.
- Remember that any small dog breed can develop small dog syndrome if not properly trained.
Grooming
- Due to their short hair, this dog does not require a lot of grooming.
- Simply brush their coat once a week with a soft bristle brush. You could also wipe their coat with a warm damp cloth.
- Trim their nails and bathe when necessary.
History
- This breed is said to have originated during the 1800s.
- Seemingly, smaller sized English Bulldogs located in Nottingham England became working dogs for lace makers (primarily for killing rats).
- During the Industrial Revolution, many lace-makers fled to France in hopes to find work. These men took their dogs with them.
- As a result, these small dogs became quite popular in France and eventually became known as the "French Bulldog".
