Appearance

• The Kyi Leo is a small muscular little dog.


• They stand roughly 8 to 12 inches tall.


• They typically weigh between 9 and 14 pounds.


• These small dogs have a long coat that is relatively thick. However, it normally takes up to 4 years for the coat to reach full length.


• These dogs can normally be found in black and white. On occasion, they may change color to a silver/gray and white.

Temperament

• These dogs are quite people friendly and intelligent.


• They are also alert and relatively playful.


• They are quite agile and known for their ability to grip objects with their paws.


• Due to their agility, this small dog is also quick. They are said to have cat-like reflexes.


• The Kyi-Leo is good with children, other dogs, and other small household pets.


• They are affectionate and enjoy being around their immediate family.

Living Standards

• Having a small to medium size yard is perfect for this breed.


• If you live in an apartment, these small dogs will do fine. Just be sure to get them plenty of exercise.

Exercise

• These dogs should be walked on a daily basis.


• Be sure to play with this dog and provide them with dog toys and bones to chew.


• You may also let your Kyi-Leo run in a safe open area.

• These dogs are considered a rare breed.


• They were developed during the 1950s in San Francisco California.


• The Kyi Leo is a mix between a Lhasa Apso and a Maltese.


• The word “Kyi” means "dog" in Tibetan. The word “Leo” means "lion".


• This dog was recognized by the American Rare Breed Association.
