- The Lhasa Apso is a sturdy little dog.
- They stand roughly 10 to 11 inches in tall.
- They typically weigh between 13 and 15 pounds.
- This breed has a long haired double coat.

Temperament
- This breed is rather intelligent.

- They are not all that great with children. These small dogs do not like to be teased or mishandled.
- This small breed is known for its sense of hearing. Thus, they tend to be decent watch dogs.
Living Standards
- These dogs enjoy a yard to roam in. However, this is not a requirement.
- They will fair well in an apartment as long as they are exercised regularly.
Exercise
- This dog should be walked on a daily basis.

- Remember that any small dog breed can develop small dog syndrome if not properly trained.
Grooming
- Grooming this dog is not too difficult.
- Simply brush their long coat on a daily basis in order to avoid matting of the fur.
- Due to their sensitive skin, use a dry shampoo when bathing.
- Check their eyes and ears for any unwanted debris.
- You may want to consult a professional groomer before grooming this dog.
History
- The Lhasa Apso is a native of Tibet.
- These small dogs were first bred by nobles and holy-men. Seemingly, they were used as watch dogs.
- They were first brought to the U.S in 1930 by the ruler of Tibet; Suydam Cutting.
- These small dogs were first recognized by the AKC in 1935.
