Appearance
- The Pomeranian is a member of the toy dog breeds.
- They stand 7 to 12 inches tall.
- They typically weigh between 3 and 7 pounds.
- These small dogs have ears that stand straight up (erect).
- They have a double coat that is quite thick.
- Their coat is normally longer around the neck area as well as the chest.

- Be sure to check/clean their eyes and ears frequently.
- Monitor their teeth for any decay or tartar build up.
- Dry shampoo these small dogs when necessary.
History
- Originally, the Pomeranians were larger dogs used for herding sheep.
- They were located in an area of Germany and Poland that was once known as Pomerania.
- These dogs were owned by royalty such as Queen Victoria. Seemingly, the Queen bred these dogs down in size.
- Afterward, the Pomeranian became quite popular throughout England.
- These small dogs were recognized by the AKC in 1888.
