Not every small dog remains as small as their owners would prefer. Some breeds such as the Basenji, can get up to 16 inches tall and weigh between 20 and 25 pounds. Some dog breeds however will remain quite small throughout the course of their entire life. For example, toy dog breeds are considered the smallest size dogs and will never grow to be medium or large size dogs.

What if you don’t care for the toy breed selection? No worries, there are more small size dogs to choose from. That is why we have put together a list of some of the small dogs that stay small NOT including the toy dogs.
