  • The Toy Fox Terrier breed is small & lean.

  • They stand roughly 8 to 12 inches tall (at the shoulders).

  • They typically weigh between 3 and 7 pounds.

  • They have ears that stand straight up (erect).

  • These small dogs have a short haired coat.

  • They are typically found in white or black with tan markings.


Temperament

  • This is a very loyal breed.

  • These small dogs are active, playful and affectionate.

  • They are also quite intelligent and alert. Thus, they are good watch dogs.

  • Due to their delicate body, this breed is better suited for responsible children.

  • This little terrier is good with other dogs. Due to their hunting instinct however, they should not be left alone with other small animals.


Living Standards

  • As mentioned earlier, this breed is quite active. Therefore, a home with a small to moderate size yard will suffice.

  • These dogs can live in an apartment as long as they get plenty of exercise.

Exercise

  • This breed should be walked on a daily basis (a moderate to long distance is recommended).

  • In addition to a walk, these small dogs like to play with dog toys, tennis balls or Frisbees. Be sure to provide them with a bone to chew as well.

  • You can also let this small terrier run in a safe confined area.

Litter Size

  • This breed will typically have 2 or 3 pups per litter.

  • This is a healthy breed.

    5. Seizures

  • The life expectancy of this breed is typically between 12 and 15 years of age.


Trainability and Obedience

  • As mentioned earlier, these dogs are rather intelligent. Therefore, they are not overly difficult to obedience train.

  • Be firm and consistent when training them.

  • Show that you are a confident leader and in control.

  • It is best to begin socializing and training this breed when they are pups.

  • Remember that any small dog breed can develop small dog syndrome if not properly trained.

Grooming

  • Due to their short haired coat, this terrier breed is not difficult to groom.

  • Brush them on occasion.

  • Be sure to check their ears, eyes, and nails.

  • Bathe them when necessary.
