  • The Wire Fox Terrier is lean and athletic in appearance.

  • They stand roughly 14 to 16 inches in height (at the shoulders).

  • Remember that any small dog breed can develop small dog syndrome if not properly trained.

Grooming

  • Due to their short haired coat, the Wire Hair Fox Terrier dog is not difficult to groom.

  • Brush this them once a week (use a firm bristle brush).

  • Bathe them when it is necessary.

  • Be sure to monitor and clean their ears as well.


History

  • The Wire Fox Terrier originated in the British Isles during the 17th century.

  • These small dogs are considered one of the older terrier breeds.

  • The Wire Fox Terrier is a mix between the Fox Hound, the Beagle, the Dachshund, and the English Hound.

  • The Wire Fox Terrier is basically the same breed as the Smooth Fox Terrier (The difference resides in the coat types).

  • These dogs were primarily bred to hunt fox and kill vermin.

  • This small dog was first recognized by the AKC in 1885.
